Just because barbecues are laid back and the food can be sloppy (hello watermelon, cheeseburgers, and s’mores!) does not mean that you have to give up on looking stylish. This Fashionista does a wonderful job of looking effortlessly trendy, but comfortable and low key at the same time. Her use of coral drop earrings (with matching manicure and pedicure!) adds a Southwestern splash to the outfit. Her turquoise eyelet, empire waist tunic is worn over a simple white tank dress to let the color pop, and to provide an opaque layer underneath the web-like fabric.
Her metallic brown leather sandals are a bit Mexican, and with the fringed brown bag add a carefree and oh-so-summery look. I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for eyelet anything during the summer. I have never found an eyelet sundress I didn’t like. But this outfit goes above and beyond by making eyelet glamorous rather than innocent, in a bright color instead of traditional white. This look is great for a barbecue: its family appropriate, worn with comfortable flats that won’t get stuck in the mud, and loose enough to let you eat an extra slice of Grandma’s apple pie without worrying. Wear your own version of eyelet and you’ll be bar-be-cute in no time!
Some Ideas for Eyelet
1) Wear with denim vests or flare jeans for a pretty flower child 1970s look.
2) Wear a white eyelet tunic with a bikini underneath and big shades for a Greek Isles inspired vacation look.
3. Wear an eyelet bow or headband for a touch of Blair Waldorf classiness. A small accessory makes a big difference!
