I caught this Fashionista last weekend on a shopping trip downtown when I was searching for a few new, fabulous tops for summer. This season I’m particularly keen on floral and sheer tops, but when I spotted this trendy gal walking downtown in her jungle-inspired ensemble, it reminded me of a couple key pieces I have stored in my own closet that simply must be seen this season. Jungle fever has struck.
This Fashionista donned a flattering, off-white, safari top with classic, brown buttons. She matched this versatile top with a pair of cuffed, dark denim shorts from Gap. Denim shorts are a staple this summer and can be worn into the fall season by simply adding a pair of tights underneath. For an edgier look, try light wash, high-waisted, ripped denim cut-offs. The heels that this Fashionista strutted through town in added a whole other dimension of adventure to her look. Her cutout, chocolate brown, lace-ups complemented the loose, cream top, making her look casual but sexy. Another eye-catching aspect about her outfit was her bag. The two-toned brown satchel with gold chain details matched perfectly with the rest of her look. It was the scarf, however, that completed her chic outfit. It added a pop of color and print, giving her neutral outfit some attitude.
If you’re looking for a way to spice up your old hand bags and satchels, start your search for some bright colored and patterned scarves. Hit up vintage shops or flea markets close to where you live. They carry unique, one-of-a-kind scarves that are always affordable. To incorporate a little more color into your wardrobe, you can try this classic, mustard yellow top with a very similar tribal feel. To take this jungle look to the next level, add some sort of animal print to your outfit. Or, if you love to accessorize, load up on the bangles, mixing brown, gold and silver. This look knows no boundaries.
This summer, take a walk on the wild side, and give this out-of-Africa look a try. This sort of ensemble can easily be transformed from day to night. Simply switch your afternoon shoes for a pair of brown chunky heels, and swap out your shoulder bag for an animal print clutch instead. Embrace the refreshed look of cool neutrals by sticking to colors like army green, mustard, nude and all shades of brown. It’s a jungle out there this summer. Dress accordingly.
