TREND: Knot it Up

Over the years, loose oxford blouses have deservedly earned their place as a staple piece to most Fashionistas’ wardrobes. Whether you’re male or female, tall or short, boyfriend button-ups flatter most body types, and always remain fashionable. And they’re versatile, as well. They come in a variety of different colors and shapes, so it’s never hard to find one that suits your style. Whether you’re wearing one tucked into a high waist skirt, untucked over a pair of denim skinnies, it is a trend that always keeps you looking chic, crisp, and clean.

I spotted this Fashionista on my walk to work, reinventing the oxford in a whole other dimension. Although her outfit was stylish from head to toe, it was the knot that initially caught my eye. And of course, the mustard yellow color, which is perfect for fall and flatters most skin tones. She paired her button up with a pair of high-waisted, dark denim shorts, which complemented the bright color top. On her feet, she wore black gladiator sandals, which matched perfectly with her black, vintage, cross-body bag.

For a look similar to this Fashionista’s try this yellow button-up. It can be tied in a knot, worn loosely over a pair of skinnies, or tucked into a pair of high waisted shorts. If you’re not crazy about the mustard, try this peachy nude top. It also can be worn in a variety of ways.

Hint: If a tie top isn’t the best look for you, but you love the knotted look, check out this post by Sammy from the University of Wisconsin. The Fashionista she featured took this trend to a new level and knotted her maxi skirt. A knot is super chic and can be incorporated with a top, skirt, dress, scarf, or headband. Don’t be afraid to get creative! That is what fashion is all about.
