Just when you thought the midriff baring trends of the "Baby one more time" era were dead for good, they made a comeback. That's right people crop tops are coming back in full force. However, this time around designers are pairing the high hemlines of the tops with a high waistline. This match made in heaven is perfect for those of us with less than ideal bellys to bare. At the same time, these '90s inspired tops are an easy (and breezy) way to show off your stylish ways while being casual and comfortable.
Though this trend popped up on the Spring 2010 runways it can easily be translated into fall with a few modifications. This Fashionista rocked her crop top with a pair of bold shorts and gladiators which is perfect for this time of year. To make this ensemble more suitable for the incoming fall weather try adding a leotard or tank underneath for extra insulation. Also, try exchanging the shorts for a high waisted jean or corduroy pant. Tall boots, a fall staple, are also a great way to make this outfit cold weather ready.
Another great thing about this timing of this trend is that you no longer have to listen to your mother saying "Cover up your midriff or you're not leaving the house".
Hint: Though the crop top trend may inspire you to bare it all, try to minimize the amount of skin you show in your ensemble by adding tall boots, mid-thigh length shorts, or high waisted jeans, jackets, tanks, or leotards for a trendy fall look.
