Opposites attract is a saying commonly used in the world of dating, but now several Fashionistas are using it as their guideline for getting dressed in the morning. Instead of creating an outfit solely using ladylike clothing, they are mixing it up, adding in edgy and masculine pieces. This Fashionista is the perfect example of how to mix two extremes. When trying to put together a very feminine outfit, floral sundresses are almost always the pick of choice, and lace-up boots are a key piece in creating a tough girl look. By combining two pieces from entirely different looks, she was able to put together a perfect summer outfit.

Throngs of celebrities have already mastered this way of dressing, including Jessica Alba. She rocked an outfit similar to the featured Fashionista, wearing a floral sundress as well, pairing it with slouchy leather ankle boots and a distressed denim motorcycle jacket. Jessica Alba is no stranger to the boyfriend jean trend, but always manages to make her outfit look girly by wearing flats or opting for a tight fitting shirt on top. 

There are a handful of other ways to incorporate somewhat contrasting elements into one cohesive outfit. Oversized blazers are a great way to add some masculinity to any outfit, but they look especially cute with floral dresses. If you want to up the ante a little bit, try adding oxfords for an even more boyish feel. If you're more interested in adding some edginess to your girly look, leather jackets are ideal. Small accessories and shoes can also make a big difference, including flats, fedoras and oversized watches. 

Hint: If you're having trouble creating a similar look, put together two different outfits to start with: one very feminine and one very edgy and/or masculine. Pick most of your pieces from one outfit (such as a dress and jacket), and then add one or two accents from the other outfit (like shoes and a hat).
