D.C. just doesn't want to say goodbye to summer! With the past seaon's heat prolonging into the months of fall, Fashionistas around campus have been incorporating pastel into their wardrobes. I love how these two Fashionistas demonstrate a perfect mix of the seasons with a palette of pastels. The Fashionista on the left has a great summery outfit with the addition of a light jacket, which makes any outfit more feminine, and pastel pieces such as her light green jacket look fabulous in the sun. I love the use of her layers undernateh; she uses light fabrics to contrast with the oversized coat. Although Fashionistas can't really get away with white pants after Labor Day, the Fashionista's attire makes a bold, chic statement about what you can get away with in the last weeks of warmth. I also adore her oversized jewelry. The addition of a strong necklace and a ring that pops are a great way of completing the look.
The Fashionista on the right, however, truly stands out in her chic, oversized, draped blouse and high-waisted paints. The light pastel blouse is loose enough to make an adorable combination with the high-waisted riding pants. A perfect way of mixing light with loose, the mix of beige pants with the pastel top creates a unique and savvy feel. For the fall, however, opt for a darker color pant, such as navy or brown, to fuse with the light pastels. It's a great way of adjusting your style from the summer mindset into attire for fall weather. I also love how the Fashionista is rocking trendy oxfords. These shoes are a great flat for the transition to cooler temperatures.
Hint: While we're all still guilty of having the mindset of summer, we better start gearing up for fall. The light toned oxfords can only last so long. Trying these shoes in black might last your through September, or even October, but soon enough ankle boots are the route to take. Seeing Fashionistas around campus sporting Dr. Martens is quite reminiscent of my childhood pair of yellow ones, and I'm starting to fall into the new combat boot craze with my own bit of flare. I love the concept of fusing statement booties with the feminine color tones seen on these two Fashionistas. While it's still hot, opt for mixing the boot trend with a bit of pastel femininity seen on these two Fashionistas!
