TREND: Rocker Chic

It’s time to embrace the some-what cooler weather of southern Arizona. Many Fashionistas/os around campus are welcoming the fall season with a change of color in their wardrobe. Since it’s not exactly sweater season just yet, they’re going for thin layers of clothing and combining warm color shades, such as navy, brown, gray, deep purple and black.

On the first day of fall, many boys and girls wearing boots were spotted around campus. The featured Fashionista was one of them. She just so happened to be sitting outside, a bit rebellious, as a flock of students walked by, and yet her outfit was hard to miss. While gray and black, aside from the hint of purple on the buttons of her cardigan, are the only choice of colors in her outfit – it doesn’t look too uniformed. The different shades of gray on her striped top help offset a could-be bland one-color scheme. Stripes are also a good way to make any one-color scheme outfit stand out. The black rugged ankle boots bring the outfit all together by adding an extra edge of cool. Although she was wearing this outfit during the day, it would transition effortlessly into the night – maybe to hit up a local show or coffee spot.

If we recall some of the previews of Fall 2010 fashion trends we saw back in summer, edginess and roughness were key ideas in many fall lines. Rock chic is a hot look for fall. The Diesel Black Gold line, for example, is perfect for those who want to combine denim, plaid and leather (all excellent combos for fall). Another fall 2010 line that’s hard to pass up is Miss Sixty. It incorporates a rebel look with hints of softness.

Remember Fashionistas/os, fall is the season to bring out your favorite warm shades of any color. Be a little rebellious with your outfit. Add a grunge piece to your outfit, such as this Fashionista’s rugged ankle boots, and your look will be fashionable for fall.
