If you remember the '80s like I do, then you know about TV show sweetheart Kelly Kapowski, a sun kissed bombshell that was always dressed fashionably. The era of Saved by the Bell has hit us like a wave, and it is ready to crash in with bright colors and crop tops. I’d say crop tops are probably one of the most memorable things when you think of Bayside and their quirky outfits.
The midriff was a staple during the '80s and is now making its come back this spring in many collections such as Michael Kors, but in a classier way. If you feel like you can pull off that midriff a la Kapowski style, then you’ll love the latest croptops. Thankfully you will be able to find them at your convenience at local boutiques in variations of colors and prints.
This week's Fashionista was spotted wearing a flowy crop top by Divaz in a subtle coral rose hue mixed with russet, giving it that rustic look. To keep her outfit a little more conservative, she paired it with a black skirt that was high enough to hide the midriff. The pairing of the jeweled necklace with the same toned vintage boots match well with the black thigh-high socks. While vibrant coral rose is in for the spring, the subtlety in this look is great right now for our current transition from the winter. It’s not that time yet to put away those black garments, so make use of them while you still can.
Hint: To bring back this '80s look right, you can get a crochet fringe crop top at Topshop, or a simple v-neck crop top from Free People. You can wear these with a nice pair of high-waisted silk trousers like the ones by Burberry or even a pair of black gathered bottom leggings by LnA. Finish off the look with a pair of Elizabeth and James lunge croc effect caged heels.
