TREND: Stand Out

As the sunset and the stores stayed open, Fashionistas and Fashionistos alike explored the stores of Georgetown enjoying the Fashion's Night Out events happening within. This was a night that gave people an excuse to look their best and dress up a bit more than a typical night out in Georgetown. From bold colored dresses to studded blazers, trends of today were not just being worn, but also pushed to their limits. It was inspiring to see Georgetown full of such a vibrant and stylish crowd of all ages.

This Fashionista stood out among the rest as the light reflected off her entirely sequined dress. It is a trend I adore, for I recently bought a sequined dress, but have yet to find the right time to wear it! Seeing this Fashionista pair the dress perfectly with a simple black blazer dresses it down a bit made it the ideal ensemble for Fashion’s Night Out. It wasn’t too over the top, yet it made a statement. The dress speaks for itself, so minimal accessories are a must. Sometimes a completely sequined dress is difficult to wear because it may seem quite dressy; however, pay attention to the color and amount of sequins and especially the style of the dress to find one that is just right for you. A sequin dress, such as this one from ModCloth, can easily be worn to dinner with a blazer because of the soft, understated colors.

On the other hand, if you want to be seen vamp up the color and cut of the dress and go for one such as this from ASOS. There is also the option of wearing a sequined skirt, which is just the right thing to ease into this trend. Pair this black sequined skirt with a white T-shirt and you’ve got a chic, easy outfit. Experimentation is the key to getting your outfit right so mix and match anything with sequin and you might just find the right balance!
