TREND: Neutrals, Stripes & Everything Nice

Although it’s still a bit chilly outside, Boston University Fashionistas/os are itching to break out their spring garb. This Fashionista is rocking two of this season’s most talked about trends: neutrals and nautical stripes.

Her spin on stripes is not of the standard blue and white variety. Instead, she opts for a toned down peach and white version that meshes perfectly with the rest of the solids in her outfits. Her khaki skinny pants are a staple for any wardrobe and they are a great alternative to denim. They look modern and fresh tucked into a pair of laceup brown combat boots

However, the star of her ensemble is her chocolate brown leather coat with shearling lining. It is simultaneously neutral and chic. For a lighter weight option for the upcoming warmer months, I would recommend a classic trench coat. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. White Klein Pleated Back Trench Coat by Alice + Olivia
2. Funnel Neck Trench Coat by Gap
3. Southard Trench Coat by BB Dakota

Accessorized with a fun statement necklace and lush tan leather messenger bag, this Fashionista looks simultaneously pulled together and fashion forward.

Hint: For a fun, flirty twist on these spring trends, try pairing a casual striped crop top with high-waisted wide leg jeans. If you are more boho than streamlined, try combining a striped top with a patterned maxi skirt – clashing patterns with similar color pallets is the epitome of chic. Top it off with your neutral trench and you'll earn extra style credit.
