They walk the streets with a bohemian lifestyle and they have an indie taste in music and fashion. These art lovers, otherwise known as hipsters, have hit the Cronkite School like a big wave of the newest trend. Their unique sense of style is what is so endearing while their lack of interest in mainstream is what makes them so interesting. While hipsters would never label themselves as such, you can spot one a mile away. They can be seen sporting Ray-Ban wayfarers and the newest addition to their vintage closet.
Vintage shopping is an easy fix for those on a college budget. We may be starting a new semester, but no one said you had to put away the blacks and browns just yet, especially when its still in the 50s or 60s. The wintertime is always perfect to wear blacks and browns. Why not mix it up a little? Try mixing these two dark colors. You just have to pick the right shades so that they don't contrast each other.
Our darling Fashionista has well-paired the black and brown trend that has been over-hyped to some as faux pas, while it is fabulous to those who are more daring and willing to take the risk. The brown belt and Capezio bag offsets the black Old Navy shirt dress with vintage black boots. To add more brown to her outfit, her brown wayfarers are the perfect match. To finish the look off, we have this comfortable white knit sweater that is reminiscent of a grandfather sweater, but is a modern version of the new trend of cardigans.
Hint: To get this hipster look you can simply buy a pair of Ray-Ban knock offs at Urban Outfitters or even Nordstrom. For a simple black dress, BCBG has a great scarf sweater dress by BCBGeneration or you can mix it up a little with their zip back version of the black dress. You can always switch up this look by wearing a different pair of boots, whether they’re combat or simply ankle boots.
