WEEKEND FORCAST: Cozy Contrast

Winter on the east coast means cold temperatures and a ton of snow. The main concern of many students is staying warm and cozy as they trudge to class. An oversized sweater is always a safe bet, but this Fashionista takes the look a step farther by choosing a contrasting print. This Fashionista looks cozy without looking dumpy. The bold black and white polka dots add some excitement to her black skinny jeans and patent leather flats.  Her white hat completes the black and white ensemble.

If you are not a fan of  polka dots, but are looking for a sweater with a contrasting pattern, try these two from Urban Outfitters: Silence & Noise Patchwork Cardigan and Ecote Intarsia Open Cardigan.  Both could bring a little life to a boring winter wardrobe.

Looking to bring eye-catching contrast into your outfits in other ways? A hooded eternity scarf can be paired with a t-shirt and jeans or worn with a solid color jacket to add some extra warmth and flair. Throw on a fun long-sleeve dress and you are ready to go out and forget a long week of classes. An even simpler way to get a similar look can be achieved by wearing a statement necklace over a white sweater or blouse. Some of my favorites are this playful bow necklace by Marc Jacobs and this sequin Torsade necklace.

Don’t let the dreary weather hurt your style this winter. There are plenty of ways to be warm and look wonderful!
