WEEKEND FORECAST: Dark with a Hint of Lace

Last fall, lingerie played a significant role in runway trends. Pairing lingerie with typical ready-to-wear pieces emphasized bold femininity by showcasing the combination of what’s typically worn in a private setting with what’s usually worn publicly. This season is still experiencing the lingerie effect, particularly with lace pieces that maintain this confidence-through-delicateness.

This Fashionista manifested poise and femininity with her midnight blue lace dress. Her gold necklaces and leopard print flats really highlighted the rich colors of her dress. Her entire outfit is a great example of how to dress for tonight’s President’s Ball at Rose Hill. For example, her flats are comfortable enough to help her dance the night away, and her jewelry helps make her outfit semi-formal. In addition, her dress is the perfect balance of class and allure. Her dress is formfitting, which makes it perfect for the weekend, yet it can be worn to other daytime events because it is sheer in all the right parts (specifically the sleeves).

If you’re still looking for a last minute lace dress to wear to tonight’s dance, run over to Free People. They also have several options online, like this loose trapeze dress in midnight and this lace neck dress in black. My favorite is the Easy Corset Slip dress in Toast because the color is so different. If you have a dress for tonight and are already looking for something to wear to the next big Fordham event, try ModCloth or EDressMe for some eye-catching little black lace dresses.
