I'm a major fan of keeping it simple and just going out to dinner on date night. And although grabbing dinner is pretty standard in the dating world, I'm still impressed by the typical GW student's ability to spruce up this common and simple dating ritual through their outfit choices. The sidewalks of Pennsylvania Ave. heading toward the Georgetown restaurants now resemble a runway more so than old cement paths, and these students put together outfits like you wouldn't believe for their nights of wining and dining. I'm really loving the trendiness and fashion-forward looks that I'm seeing students sport on their weekend date nights, and that's why I stopped this Fashionista in her tracks as she was heading out to dinner.
This Fashionista's outfit is great for date night – it's not too dressy and it's not too casual – it's the perfect combination of effortless chic. This Fashionista is wearing skinny black jeans, a tucked in, baggy white tank, and an amazing leopard-print blazer (which is my absolute favorite part of her outfit). She has accessorized her outfit with a really cool patent leather clutch, a great statement ring from Urban Outfitters, Ray Ban sunglasses, and a pair of Jeffrey Campbell closed-toe wedges. The leopard print blazer instantly adds sophisticated glam to a what would have been a simple black-and-white outfit, and it really takes her look to the fashion-forward level that I love. Her accessories are appropriately understated so as to not take away from the eye-catching blazer, and she rocks this amazing look with confidence.
Hint: Wondering what you should wear on date night this weekend? Take after this Fashionista, and rock a non-conventional patterned blazer or cardigan with a great pair of skinnies, a simple tank, and wedged booties. Afraid you can't pull off a patterned blazer or cardigan? Try a blazer with understated embellishments, instead. This fun look is easy and chic, a go-to outfit for the dinner date you may be going on this weekend!
