In the college environment, style is about feeling comfortable in what you wear, and looking good too. It is also about breaking rules, and doing something unexpected outside the norm of stripes and sneakers. I saw this Fashionista about to enter her humble abode and felt obliged to have her strike a pose. Her graphic printed tee is a simple, alternative version to plain old white and somehow seemed to exude fall. The print almost looks like the trees after the leaves have fallen off. (I like this one from Marc by Marc Jacobs). She paired the tee with some simple black skinnies, an essential piece to anyone’s wardrobe. Her black accessories all perfectly coexist: from the black wayfarer style RayBans, to the studded leather belt, to the motorcycle style ankle booties (like these from Junya Watanabe) – this outfit really tells a story. She finished the look with an astoundingly proportioned white woven leather satchel (Chanel carries several styles). This piece is the perfect delicate touch to lighten up her look. The most amazing touch to this Fashionista’s outfit was her layered bracelets. You could really tell that these bracelets all represented something and have been through a lot. I love worn in, eccentric accessories like these. It is so easy to start a small collection of trinkets like this Fashionista’s bracelets that represent something personal for you, and also a way to personalize a look. She also had a few layered necklaces in the same fashion. So here is my challenge to you: try and find a variety of accessories that really tell people a story of who you are, and why you are wearing them.
Hint: Wearing a variety of metals and fabrics can really alter the composition of your accessories. Mix and match a few to see what works best for you!
