As Halloween approaches, our minds begin to fill with ideas of costumes and candy. With the holiday falling on a weekend this year, the week leading up to the event leaves Fashionistas and Fashionistos everywhere with many opportunities to pull out the stops and dress to thrill. The one day every year when we can be and act like a completely different person is also a day where we can dress however we want and be universally accepted. I spotted this Fashionista in my dorm building on my way out to lunch. She was hard to miss in her 6 inch platform black leather boots. These boots exuded the Halloween spirit and provide a perfect example of what it means to use fashion as a means of self-expression. She paired the boots with a pair of black 7 for All Mankind jeggings, a mustard yellow Lacoste 5 button polo, and a romantically trimmed red blazer. Her choice of warm fall colors was a great way of avoiding the Halloween cliché of black and orange. This Fashionista chose simple, elegant accessories such as her black leather belt and her black pearl necklace to make her boots really stand out. Of all things that made her outfit work, this Fashionista’s attitude was the thing that stood out the most. She seemed confident, and ready to take the world by storm. I can’t wait to see what she actually wears on Halloween!
Hint: Try mixing over-the-top items that you might not normally wear every day into your wardrobe to give off a Halloween vibe without actually putting on a costume.
