There is no fashion rule anywhere that says a clutch is your only purse option when going out to a bar or a club. In my opinion, only carrying small-sized bags out at night is a thing of the past. Now, don't get me wrong – a clutch can often times be the perfect accessory for your going-out looks. However, I am a firm believer in carrying larger bags to bars – they fit everything you need, no stuffing and cramming required. And, even better, by carrying a large purse that is a different color or textile than your outfit, you can add an incredible pop to any look.
I stopped this Fashionista as she was leaving her dorm and heading out to Georgetown. For her night on the town, she has tucked a simple tank into a great black skirt, adding to her outfit a metallic grey sweater, black stockings, and a pair of heeled, black booties. With her outfit, this Fashionista is carrying one of my favorite purses of all time – an Alexander Wang hobo in an orange-tinted beige leather with rows and rows of studs along the bottom. This Fashionista is proof of how a large-sized tote that's a different color than your outfit can add some oomph to your look, taking it from simply-chic to camera-ready in no time.
Hint: For your night out this weekend, don't be afraid to sport a bag that's larger than the common clutch. Balenciaga has large-sized bags in an amazing range of colors, which can quickly add some life to your cool-colored, autumn outfit. On more of a budget? Big Buddha is a great option – having some fantastic oversized bags for less.
