As most of you know by now, Boston's winter weather is terrible. However, spring teased us with a few days of nice weather this week. Warmer temperatures mean less heavy jackets and more color. This Fashionista put away her winter jacket and boots , choosing instead layers and bright teal sneakers.
Layering can be a great way to deal with the always-changing weather here in Boston. This fashionista started with a dark blue tshirt with horizontal sequin stripes. The sequins add some sparkle to the mostly solid color outfit and match the gold buttons on her jacket and her aviators. This top could also easily be worn with jeans and heels for a night out. The next layer is a light gray draped cardigan. Draping can add some serious glamour to an outfit like another Style Guru explains in this post. Add texture to a simple outfit with these two draped cardigans from Forever21: Graduated Open Cardigan and Striped Waterfall Cardigan. The final step in this Fashionista’s layered look is the jacket. The jacket looks like a peacoat, but is not made of wool like most are. Instead, this Juicy Couture jacket is made from lighter-weight cotton. Looking for a peacoat to wear on those warmer winter days? Try this one. It even has a hood, which is always a welcome barrier from the wind.
This Fashionista balances out her layered look with solid black leggings and sneakers from Urban Outfitters. Colored shoes can be a fun way to bring excitement to an outfit. Colorful heels, flats, oxfords, sneakers, sandals, etc are starting to pop up in stores just in time for spring. Urban Outfitters has a large selection of colorful canvas sneakers like the ones seen on this Fashionista.
Although I love my boots and cozy sweaters, I am SO ready for the light layers, larger selection of shoe styles to pick from and the bright colors that spring brings with it.
