WEEKEND FORECAST: Work Hard, Play Hard

Summer is in full swing here in Oregon. Many U of O Ducks are spending their summers taking classes, working jobs and doing internships to boost their resumes and give them work experience. Dressing for the office can be a bit tricky in the heat, and no one wants to spend a fortune on clothes that can only be worn a few times. While shopping for business outfits, choose pieces that can transfer easily to play outfits. Many office-friendly staples can go from day-to-night with the help of fun colors, textures and accessories. Here are my favorite tips:

1. Pencil Skirts are classic, timeless and always in style. I found the perfect pencil skirt at The Limited and bought it in black, royal blue and cream because I loved it so much and it went with everything in my closet. For the office, dress up a classic black pencil skirt with a ruffled blouse, an off-beat colored cardigan such as mint or mustard, tights, a set of heels and the perfect pair of pearls. For night, ditch the cardigan and swap the prim pearls for a chunky, eye-catching statement necklace

2. Blazers are by far my favorite piece from the menswear trend right now. I just picked up a great gray and white pinstriped one from H&M this weekend. For the office, layer a blazer over a pretty cami and skirt for a simple, elegant look. For night, keep the cami and pull on skinny jeans, boots and a great pair of earrings for a fun, funky look to accompany your polished blazer.

3. Headbands. Calling all Blair Waldorf wannabees! Headbands embellished with bows, pearls and rhinestones are making a comeback. For the office, pull your hair off of your face and twist your ponytail into a bun for a polished look. For night, undo your bun and let your headband your wavy hair back.
