WHAT TO WEAR: Holiday

Celebrating any holiday, especially the Fourth of July, is always a reason to dress festively. This holiday has always been one I look forward to the most! From the pool party BBQs to the fabulous firework displays, the Fourth is the perfect time to show off your patriotic pride wearing your red, white and blue. Everyone knows the trends that have been overdone time and time again; yes, I’m talking about the jean shorts with a flag tank. But this year is perfect to mix it up and show your independence through fashion this Independence Day.

This Fashionista was caught wearing red cutoff denim shorts paired with an off-white crop top with lace embroidery. She paired it with a comfy, navy striped cardigan to add some patriotic flare. She rocked her Marc Jacobs purse, kate spade sandals, Ray-Ban sunglasses and simple gold jewelry. This outfit mixed casual with cute and was still an appropriate Fourth of July ensemble. There are countless fun activities that usually occur on this holiday. You want to represent your American pride while still looking effortlessly chic so you’re ready to win every game of balloon toss possible! A great way to make this outfit work for the Fourth is leaving off your cardigan until the fireworks.

Instead of the chunky cardigan, you could also add a denim vest like this one from Forever 21. It incorporates some USA pride with the white and blue stripes. Another festive outfit could be pairing a white tank with these stars and stripes shorts from NASTY GAL. Since I live in the Midwest, it tends to get chilly when it gets dark out. One of my favorite trends during summer is a sweater because they are so unexpected for the season. Don’t be afraid to rock an ASOS sweater like this one that would be perfect for nighttime fireworks.

One Simple Change: If this Chicago weather somehow turns around, loose the cardigan and add a white and blue stripped shirt for a more sun friendly look!
