WHAT TO WEAR: Internship

Dressing for an internship is crucial to your longevity with the company. Yes, you want to remain professional, but a black pencil skirt and blazer does not scream Fashionista, ya feel me? It is important to keep your outfits sophisticated, while adding pieces that still reflect your personal style. Now that summer internships are in full swing, it’s time to re-create outfits with pieces you already have in your closet. Because we all know finding the perfect professional outfit in the midst of 30+ degree weather is nearly impossible, especially when our closets are jam packed with beach dresses. (sigh)

I spotted this Fashionista who looked absolutely fab, I basically wanted every piece of clothing she’s wearing. She mixed pieces I would of never imagined pairing together (chambray and pleats? officially obsessed). Her ensemble is perfect for a busy day interning during a blazing hot summer day.

This Fashionista is wearing a light wash chambray sleeveless shirt, which for all the denim lovers out there like myself, the chambray trend is denims cooler sister. It’s lightweight and extremely versatile, wear it with a statement necklace like this Fashionista, or for a more bohemian look tie up the bottom of the shirt. This Fashionista opted to tuck her shirt into her high-waisted red pleated skirt, for a sophisticated school girl approach, perfect for the office.  Keeping on trend with her schoolgirl vibe she pairs neutral oxfords, which are a great shoe for running around, and neutral shoes are a great purchase because they go with absolutely everything.

As for accessories, this Fashionista creates a simplistic chic combination while accessorizing sparingly. Statement necklaces are everywhere this season, and clearly this this Fashionista is a fan. She pairs a gold-collared necklace, which complements her outfit perfectly, adding the finishing touch to make it office appropriate. Additionally, she pairs a simple white pearl ring and a vintage Liz Claiborne handbag to keep the outfit youthful and relaxed. We can’t forget about the red lipstick! A pop of colour is truly an instant face-lift, and this Fashionista flawlessly matches her lipstick with her skirt.

One Simple Change: After a long day of interning, it’s time to transform your outfit from day to night seamlessly. Switch out the chambray shirt for a white crop top, throw on a slouchy Brandy Melville knit, and kick on some white All-Star Converse for a beach bonfire with friends.
