WHAT TO WEAR: On the Quad

With summer classes in full swing and summer at its peak, the grassy quad on campus can begin to feel like a tiny refuge from the buzzing concrete jungle around you.  When the sun is shining, the quad becomes the new social scene on campus where students congregate to lay out and relax or do some long boarding. Whether it’s located on campus or Central Park’s famous Great Lawn, the green space becomes a hotspot for Fashionistas/os to wind down and relax from a busy day at work during their lunch break or on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

I spotted this Fashionisto when I was headed down from the Highline Park. His bold printed T-shirt complements his slouchy gray pants to capture a modern relaxed cool aesthetic that is trendy and polished. I love to see men embracing bold prints and taking some fashion risks to forge a new path in men’s style. His outfit is perfect for an afternoon spent lounging on the quad and tossing a frisbee around with friends.

Men’s fashion has been impossible to ignore this week with photos of the Paris shows flooding the internet. It’s exciting to see labels like Raf Simons (who actually entrusted his models with the task of styling themselves) and Paul Smith, among many others, embracing bold colors and prints in their spring/summer 2014 collections that capture the emergent creative and innovative aesthetic in menswear, taking it from the runway to the street or the quad, in this case.

One Simple Change: Swap the sweats for a pair of classic dark wash or black jeans for a cool nighttime look.
