WHAT TO WEAR: Shopping

Every second Sunday of the month, I head out to Pasadena and spend the day exploring and browsing the tens of vendors at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. Labeled as the best flea market on the West Coast, it’s a hotspot for Fashionistas and Fashionistos from around Southern California.

You can literally spend hours browsing through vintage jewelry, clothing and antique furniture. From 1920s flapper dresses to hand crafted trinkets, this flea market has it all. But there’s always a few unspoken rules when attending the flea market: bring lots of cash, wear comfortable attire, carry a big bag and always be ready to haggle.

My go-to summer flea market outfits are always either a flowy dress or a basic top and denim cut-offs. It’s important to be comfortable when shopping at the flea market, but it also doesn’t hurt to look stylish as well. I spotted this Fashionista shopping with some of her friends at a booth and loved her outfit immediately. Her outfit looks both comfortable, stylish and completely in sync with the flea market atmosphere.

This Fashionista’s Topshop shorts, unfortunately sold out, are a perfect pair of summer shorts. They’re not too high-waisted or too cheeky but the perfect denim shorts length. The floral embellishments also add a bit of fun to her outfit and I love the back pocket detail. Every Fashionista should have a pair of embellished cut-offs like these and you can find a similar pair on NASTY GAL. For a variety of fun embellished shorts visit Topshop, but for more basic black cut-offs, check out this One Teaspoon one and Citizens of Humanity pair.

Her Brandy Melville top and bralette are nicely paired together and look both comfortable and effortless. Walking and spending the day underneath the hot sun can be tiring and the last thing you want is a heavy top weighing you down. Wear a light tank or top like this Fashionista did to ensure you stay cool all day. Her top is also perfect for easily slipping and trying on some flea market vintage dresses and tops. For a similar style check out this top from Madewell.

This Fashionista paired her cut-offs with some comfortable Dolce Vita booties. This summer, don’t be afraid to pair your summer cut-offs with some booties like she did. These Dolce Vita booties and the Sam Edelman Petty Boots work well with most summer cut-offs, skirts and jeans. A nice pair of booties are an a great investment and a Fashionista staple since they can be worn all year.

Not only was this Fashionista’s outfit entirely appropriate for a day visiting the flea market, but it’s also a great outfit for any summer day. All her clothes whether, worn together or separately, are great pieces for any summer activity!

One Simple Change: Switch out the booties for a pair of comfy sandals, grab a cute hat and you’ve got yourself the perfect festival outfit for Coachella or Lollapalooza!
