Question from Josh: What’s the best way to incorporate your body type with the current trends on denim. For example, sometimes bigger men want to be trendy and wear skinny jeans but it isn't flattering. Any suggestions?
My Advice: A common mistake people have with trends is they don't take into consideration styles that look incredible on models don't always translate the same way on your body. The best advice I could ever give is pay attention to fit. You might be wearing the most cutting edge design but if the fit is wrong, the entire look is off.
Denim is one of those things that as college students we live and breathe in. Having a well-fitting pair of denim is key and essential to our wardrobes. If you are like me, shopping for denim can be stressful and depressing. Emotions run high when you are trying on pair after pair praying you will find that one silhouette that screams "YES!" So I suggest bringing along a friend for this somewhat dreadful experience. Another key thing when shopping for denim is color. If you are on a budget and need a pair of denim for class and the bars going for a darker wash will allow you to extend the wear of your pants.
And for you fellas I know comfort is king so try a relaxed fitting denim. You can find a relaxed fit and cuff the bottom for a more tapered effect like a skinny jean.
Finally, don't be a brand snob. Denim changes season to season and brands are always coming up with new cuts and colors. Branch out from the popular denim brands that you always hear about and find one that works for you.
Good luck denim shopping, Josh.
