Question from Sadie: How do I transition my summer dresses into fall?
My Answer: There is absolutely no reason to ditch your summer dresses this fall season, especially when a college student's budget is tight and utilizing everything in your wardrobe is key. My recommendation is pull out those dresses with patterns in deeper hues and hit right at the knee and longer. It's those pieces that will be easy to work into your fall wardrobe. And, of course, grab your maxis. Those aren't going anywhere this fall.
Once you have edited your summer dress collection, bring out your tights. This season I am loving large polka dot tights mixed with pattered dresses. Tights will keep you warm during those chilly fall days while adding a fall element to your outfit.
For maxi dresses throw on your distressed leather jacket and a chunky scarf. This look is perfect for the classroom and is equally as chic for a casual Thursday night. I was always the girl dressing up way too much on a Thursday night so throwing on heels with a maxi is completely totally fine for the bars.
And, for those basic summer dresses, pair a crewneck sweater (vintage is preferable) and thick colored wool tights with your T-shirt dress. Grab your Dr. Martens or an equivalent and you are fall ready.
It's simply that easy to take summer into fall.
