Question from Dina: With spring around the corner, I am looking for a raincoat that is functional yet stylish for walking around campus on the rainy days to come. What's a good place to get a raincoat that's not too matronly looking?
My Advice: Spring time definitely means rain season and having that perfect raincoat to throw on will make trekking through the weather a bit more fun. Of course, as Fashionistas, we all aspire to one day own a Burberry raincoat in our wardrobe. It's the epitome of classic, chic and on my wish list indefinitely. With that being said, let's get realistic and focus on college budget-college price points. Topshop makes a series of funky raincoats that are definitely not matronly. If you are feeling like taking a fashion risk, I would suggest looking at this clear red rain jacket that almost looks like you are wrapped in plastic but in a good way. This coat will definitely keep your clothes dry. However, if this option is just too daring for your style then try Target. They always have rain jackets, such as this navy one, at a reasonable price point and that is stylish but nothing over the top.
I would veer away from rain ponchos if you don't want to feel matronly and like a big blob. Another fun way to make your rain gear more feminine is with rain accessories! There is nothing like a fun umbrella to jazz up your mood and also to add excitement to your rainwear wardrobe. Good luck staying dry this season!
